Marital problems are rarely easy for any Maryland resident to go through, but for those who are in the public eye, such issues can be even more challenging. This may be the case for former “Full House” star, Jodie Sweetin, who recently filed for legal separation from her husband of just over one year. The two share a 2-year-old daughter and wed in a private ceremony that they actually did not publicize to the media until a year after tying the knot.
Sweetin has unfortunately gone through marital struggles in the past. This marriage to rocker Marty Coyle is her third, which may have been one of the reasons they kept it secret for a period of time. Sweetin filed for legal separation last month and has requested custody of the couple’s daughter. She has also asked to receive ownership of the couple’s shared vehicle and wants to evenly divide a Kohl’s credit card balance the couple has apparently incurred.
The “Full House” alum expressed gratitude for the support she has felt from fans in the wake of her decision to legally separate from her third husband. One report indicates that the rocker may have actually learned about the legal separation filing by reading about it in the media. It is not yet clear if that may have been the first news he had of the upcoming separation.
A legal separation is likely more difficult for celebrities in light of the extra publicity that comes along with fame; however, that doesn’t mean that the process is easy on the more typical Maryland couple. Ironing out details like child custody, child support, alimony and how to divide marital assets and debts is challenging no matter the circumstances. This fact may make it a good idea to look into all rights and responsibilities that legal separation provides to individuals after one has filed a request with the court.
